Nomad to semi nomad

Hello friends and family. It has been awhile since our last post so let's catch up.

If you remember, last summer we drove to Alaska in the ultimate have to do RV trip. It was fantastic, beautiful and always jaw dropping and sometimes jaw jarring. After we returned, we meandered around Washington, visited the Olympic peninsula, the rain forest and coastal cities. We kept with the coast drive down Oregon until we arrived  at our winter job in Nov, maintenance host for Sunset Beach state park on the Monterey bay. It would be our second winter there, we liked it, they liked us and it was a good winter.

Something happened on that Alaska drive to our mentality of driving. We were getting a bit tired of always driving. I suppose some of it started sinking in to Gail as we drove and drove around Australia. So, while in Washington, on the Long Beach peninsula, we came across a small town of Ocean Park and the whole area. We liked it, it is small and quiet and we like that but not too isolated. The ocean is just a half block away or go the other side and the Willapa bay is there, with clams, oysters and fish. The Columbia river separates WA from Oregon and Astoria is only 30 minutes away.

We started having serious thoughts of not being quite so nomadic. Once we were down in Santa Cruz area, we hopped over to Hawaii for two weeks, specifically to house hunt on the big island. We saw several houses we could afford, liked the Hilo side and the weather, but all things considered, the cost of living is a high factor and the distance to our families. So we decided Hawaii is best for visiting, when you want to leave the weather of winter.

Plan B was to then look up in Ocean Park, find something for most of the year, sell off the truck and trailer, get something smaller for a couple of months time away. And that's where we are now, looking at places that we can store an RV, have friends with RVs be able to
stay on the property (hookups) or in the spare room, work on the house a little, enjoy the nice summer weather, hear the ocean and only be semi nomadic. A new chapter begins but the adventures continue!

We will keep you posted.
